Navaratra Festival TuljapurSharadiya Navaratra
One of the most auspicious festivals, it is celebrated from Ashwin Pratipada (first day of Hindu lunar month) to Ashwin Paurnima (full moon day) which usually falls in the month of September-October. The festival is celebrated to commemorate the event of the Goddess going to her cosmic sleep (Nidra) of five days. On Ashwin Shudh 10, the most important festival Dashera is celebrated.
"Simollanghan” (symbolic crossing of boundaries) the most auspicious event of the festival, is performed in the early morning. During this ritual, the Holy Idol of Tuljabhawani is taken out from the Garbh Graha and placed in to the palanquin (Palkhi) which is carried in procession encircling the temple. After this procession, it is believed by the devotees that the deity retires to her sleeping chambers for resting up to Ashwin Pournima (fool moon day).Shakambhari Navaratra
This 5 days festival is celebrated each year in honour of Goddess Shakambhari in the Poush month according to Hindu lunar calendar (November/ December). This is a sort of mini recreation of the sacred events taking place during the Shardiya Navratra Utsav. During this festival, dramas and music concerts are organized by the Devasthan Trust. Many renowned singers, musicians and artists participate in these concerts and cultural programmes and exhibit the prowess of their performances.
This year, i.e. 2009-10, well known artist from Marathi Theater and cinema Prashant Damale rendered his performance in the functions organized by the Devasthan Trust, along with the famous music composer Shridhar Phadake and a folk singer Vitthal Umap, also gave excellent performances. The trust has also started giving "Shree Tuljai Stree Shakti Puraskar" an award in recognition of extra ordinary achievements in different fields accomplished by women of Maharashtra.Chhabina
This is an important and glittering function in which, the replica of Deity’s holy idol, made of silver is placed on the chariot decorated with colorful sculpts of lions, elephants, horses, bulls, eagles and peacocks, shown as carriers and the procession moves on accompanied by drum beaters and devotees singing traditional devotional songs. The Chariot is carried by the devotees on their shoulders. The procession encircles (Parikrama) the temple with religious fervor. The event is celebrated on the full moon (pournima) night.Mohanidra
This event takes place on Ashivana Shuddha Dashami. At the time of this Nidra the idol of deity with full worn sari is taken out of the the inner room or Garbhgriha of the temple. Procession of the idol takes place wherein the idol rests in Palkhi . After completion of Pradakshina or full round of the temple the deity rests on the Palanga or special cot meant for sleeping of deity.Shramnidra
This event takes place on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami. Here the idol of the deity is applied with turmeric and kept on special silever cot or Palanga which is there for sleeping of deity.
Abhishek Pooja is offered to the Tuljabhavani Devi for attaining peace, wealth, success, and prosperity. First, the idol is washed with water after which the other 4 ingredients that include milk, ghee, curd, and honey is poured over the Goddess.
It is performed in the honor of Tuljabhavani Devi where the Devi is offered a seat and prayers are recited in their reverence. It is one of the most auspicious Pooja that establishes a spiritual connection between the Devi and her disciple.
In this pooja, the inner sanctum of the Sinhasan or the throne of the Devi is filled completely with curd and milk. After this, the religious mantras and offerings are offered and the devotee receives blessings from their deity.
In this Pooja, Shrikhanda is poured in the inner sanctum till it gets filled with eat totally and the devotee is allowed to touch the Sinhasan for seeking blessings of the almighty Tuljabahvani Devi.
In this Pooja, the inner part of the Sinhasan is filled with Loni(Butter) and the Devi is worshipped with religious mantras and offerings. This type of Pooja is specially performed by the couples before their marriage.
Amrakhand is mango flavored Shrikhand which is used to fill the inner sanctum of the throne. After that, the Devi is worshipped by the devotee and takes blessings after completing all the religious procedures.
In a year the Tuljabhavani Goddess sleeps for 21 days in various stages and the Pooja performed during that period is called Nidra Pooja. This Pooja is very auspicious as the Goddess is very happy and receptive during this tenure.
While sleeping the Devi is filled with inner peace and happiness. Therefore, an Abhishek during this Pooja pleases her and she showers blessings on her devotees. Devotees must look forward to this occasion as the Goddess rests only for 21 days in a year.
A special Pooja is performed on every Purnima (Full moon Day) as the Goddess acquires special powers during this period. A devotee is blessed with enormous wealth, prosperity, happiness and much more after performing this Pooja.
Offering “Anna” (meals) to the disciples of the Goddess has its own importance as Tuljabhavani Devi is very fond of their devotees. Making her disciples happy pleases her completely and she blesses them with abundance.
